Lead Instructor – Port Training Services

My client is an award winning training division of a major regional enterprise specialising in port handling (particularly for the offshore renewables sector) and logistics and freight forwarding.  They are a specialist training provider delivering fully accredited, industry recognised qualifications for companies and individuals serving the Port & Marine, Warehousing & Logistics, Heavy Industry, Subsea and Offshore Energy sectors.

Reporting to the Training Manager, the Lead Instructor will lead on the development and delivery of the current port training services, plant and H&S training courses.  You will also lead on the new product development and introduction to the Training Services portfolio to cover all target markets including Ports, Logistics, Warehousing and Offshore Renewables and Subsea.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist with the PTS instructor pool for Plant and H&S courses (internal and external contractors)
  • Actively deliver training courses onsite and offsite
  • Ensure the correct equipment, personnel and facilities are available for each course, and are maintained to the highest standard at all times
  • Help manage the relationships with external accrediting bodies
  • Ensure H&S is maintained to the highest level at all times
  • Work to continuously improve the services of PTS
  • Work closely with the business development team to develop and introduce new products
  • Provide a high quality service to all customers
  • Able to manage and maintain relationships with external/internal customers and suppliers
  • Work effectively with the PTS administration team to ensure all training administration is managed effectively and efficiently
  • Work effectively with the operations team for plant and training area access

To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience as a senior instructor within the port/large-scale warehousing & logistics/freight forwarding sectors.  Possessing first-rate communication, training people skills, additional selection criteria includes:

  • NPORS – Instructor or equivalent
  • Proven track record of designing and deliver of relevant training courses
  • D32, D33, A1, TAQA – Instructor Qualifications
  • Full Driving License
  • IOSH Managing Safely (preferred)
  • Lifting and Crane operation experience (preferred)
